Learn More About

Lewis and Clark Elementary, in the heart of Wenatchee, Washington is the home of the purple and green Trailblazers.

We are located on the corner of Springwater and Princeton Streets. Adjoining our school is the Lewis and Clark Park. This park is an intricate part of our Valley's sporting arenas, hosting multi-aged soccer, baseball games, and family fun. We concentrate on the safety, learning and well being of all who enter our school.

The population at Lewis and Clark ranges between 475 and 490 students, Kindergarten thru fifth grade. Our school is operated with 1 Principal, 1 Counselor, 1 Family Advocate, 2 Secretaries, 23 Classroom Teachers, 14 Specialists, 8 Para-Educators, 1 School Nurse, 2 Food Service Ladies, and 3 Custodians.

Lewis and Clark is the first school in the Wenatchee Valley to offer students the Dual Language Enrichment Program. With the exception of reading and writing, which are taught in the child’s native language in Kindergarten and First grade, heterogeneous grouping during the Spanish and English portions of the day provides students with the opportunities to assist and learn from one another, allowing second language acquisition to occur naturally.

Students are provided with extended learning opportunities before school with silent reading time, at recess with homework room, and before the WASL with After School Academy. L&C was honored as The 2005-06 National Title 1 Distinguished School Award. We are very proud of the extra support that our students are provided with to increase their chances of success in life. That support consists of:

The Rainbow Room/PIP (Primary Intervention Program) is designed to assist children who are “at risk” for developing school adjustment difficulties. Students in grades Kindergarten to 3rd, are referred by staff to participate in this program.

Our Enrichment classes soar with activities and projects created by students for the benefit of the whole school. The enrichment program also provides special visitors to our school who perform at assemblies once per month.

The Lunch Buddy Program was developed to created friendships between members of our community and our at risk students. Buddies have lunch together one day per week every week and learn about friendships.

Extra curricular activities that the students can participate in are:

L&C Choir - meets before school four days a week and boasts 80+ students from grades 1st through 5th. The choir performs in many school and community events. The choir has entertained the residents of Colonial Vista Retirement Home for several years with a Christmas Carol sing-a-long.

Safety Patrol – 15 members strong. The patrol provides students with safe routes to school.

Folkloric Mexican Dancing – lead by Mrs. Oralia Lopez and Mrs. Lucy Garcia. This group learns and then performs Spanish dancing for our school and in the Apple Blossom’s Kid’s Parade.

Lunch Helper – members of the 4th grade provide extra help to our kitchen help during the lunch hour.

Library Helpers – helpers assist in the library in the mornings and after school helping fellow students with check out.

Wenatchee School District Supported Events – events such as the Elementary Track and Field Meet, Spelling Bee for 4th and 5th graders, Play Performances

Our Parent, Teacher, Student Association (PTSA) strengthens our backbone with support that never wavers. Over the years, the PTSA has provided the students and staff sound systems for the classrooms, playground equipment, classroom money for supplies, assemblies and donations for purchase of technology equipment. Family fun events such as Harvest Festival, Bingo Night, Carnival and participation in the Apple Blossom Kids Parade are sponsored by the PTSA. As well as our volunteers from the PTSA we are proud to have over 75 additional volunteers helping us out in different areas.
